The Signature Zirconium is the latest addition to Vertu’s Signature collection. The phone—yes, you may use it to make calls as well—is the first luxury mobile phone to contain zirconium, a metal tougher and more durable than titanium. Its screen, made of sapphire with a matt anthracite finish, takes more than two weeks to create in a 2000°C furnace. The SIM drawer is engraved, jewellery-like, with a Vertu pattern, while the ruby bearings of the battery cover slides on sapphire surfaces.
Hand-built in England, it is the first phone to be assembled by a single craftsman; each handset is signed by the master craftsman. And if all this luxury was not overwhelming enough, the phone also comes with tailored luxury information and services: Registering a handset with Vertu Concierge means the user gets access to an array of exclusive services designed to make life easier. (Vertu Concierge claims it can arrange anything from bespoke gifts to money-can’t-buy events and experiences.) Surely worth every bit of the Rs 12.5 lakh price tag.
